Welcome!

Southern Africa is unforgettable. It is outrageously adventurous, utterly beautiful and great value for money. Travelling in this unique region offers unrivalled diversity of scenery, culture and experience, which is at least part of the reason for this newsletter.

The Regional Tourism Organisation of Southern Africa (RETOSA) welcomes you to this first edition of its electronic newsletter, a publication intended to arouse your curiosity and facilitate safe, memorable travel throughout the region.

As a body of the Southern African Development Community (SADC), RETOSA now has increased autonomy as a result of restructuring and with it, a mandate to more strongly promote the region in the international tourism sphere. This newsletter is one of several visible applications of RETOSA’s extensive Strategic Work Plan, which is aimed at transforming the promotion of growth and development of tourism in the 15 Southern Africa countries.

We invite tourism operators, promoters and interested organisations to provide us with news relevant to the industry. We’d also like to hear your suggestions on content which may be helpful in promoting this region effectively and successfully. Please send news and comments to athane [at] telkomsa [dot] net
